There are not enough words in the world to describe how good this film is. Nolan’s direction of the latest two is slowly erasing from my memory the horrific Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.
Heath Ledger was outstanding and this performance greatly deserved his best actor honor at the Oscars. It is just a shame that we never got to see him continue his talents.
The transformation of Gotham’s white knight into Harvey Two-Face added another character dimension into an effective storyline and Christian Bale rivals Michael Keaton’s original for best Batman. The camera shots and action sequences are second to none and that is what we have come to expect from Nolan’s astute direction.
With a powerful musical score this is a must have for any Batman fan, we can only hope that if there is going to be a third then Nolan and co are again behind the wheel.
Certainly you would have to go for the Blu-ray version opposed to the DVD, the obvious being the enhanced picture quality and for some action sequences in particular it is well worth it. If you are blessed with surround sound then get the sound up as Warner provides a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (48kHz/16-bit) track for ‘The Dark Knight,’ which is also sure to please. This is first-rate audio and also surely a new demo-worthy soundtrack.
