New trailer and poster for After Earth

After Earth has got a new poster and trailer which shows the Smith boys, Jaden and Will, marooned on a post-apocalyptic version of Earth.

Directed by M Night Shyamalan, who lets be fair after such a positive start in his film making career needs to seriously redeem himself with this one.

after earth

The trailer shows Smith Jnr and his father together after Jnr appears to have an arrogant head on his shoulders and is in need of some father son bonding, and what better way than on a planet where everything has evolved to kill humans.

After crash landing and some fatherly advice, the mission is simple, retrieve a beacon from the tail section of the ship some 100kms away. Oh, and avoid anything looking to kill you.

Not sure what to expect from this but visually it loos very good, let’s hope the story holds up as well.

And the poster…

After Earth trailer starring Will and Jaden Smith

M. Night Shyamalan has had a bad run of form over the past few years, now he’s back once again hoping his new sci-fi drama After Earth, in which Will and Jaden Smith crash-land on a hostile planet full of human hungry predators, receives a little more acclaim than his past outings.

The older Smith narrates over the new trailer and states that, “everything on this planet has evolved to kill humans”, of all the planets to crash land on what are the chances? Young Smith is sent out into the wild to forage, under some strict and sound advice from Smith senior.

Shyamalan of course is renowned for his twists and this one is no exception, so if you’re eagle eyed you might spot it at some point during the trailer?

Take a look, below…

We really hope that Shyamalan stops the so called rot in his films, and with some potentially good on screen chemistry this might be one to watch for next summer!

Bad Boys 3 on the cards

Martin Lawrence has been speaking about the possibility of a third Bad Boys film, with both himself and on screen partner Will Smith reprising the roles of Detectives Lowery and Burnett.

The first two films were well recevied for their explosive action sequences and sublte humour and now it seems that a third is well on the way.

“They’re working on a script now,” Lawrence confirms to Digital Spy. “That’s something I think looks very real. Will told me that he wanted to do it as well.

“Michael Bay I heard was on board and Jerry Bruckheimer. We’ll see.”

As yet he couldn’t confirm a start date for the production, but said: “Those guys are very busy. There’s no timeline.”

The original Bad Boys was director Michale Bay’s first feature film and was an instant hit, with the second film in 2003 taking a whopping $273 worldwide.

This would be a welcome return for all involved, so fingers crossed.

Modern Day Robin Hood for the Wachowskis

The Wachowski brothers are looking to bring Robin Hood folklaw into the 21st Century with their film Hood, a “modern, urban take” on the Robin Hood legend.

This will be their first film since the rather disappointing Speed Racer, and with work on the script seemingly complete it will now move onto directing duties.

THR report that the duo have already completed work on the film’s script, and will take it on as a directing job – their first since 2008’s Speed Racer.

Which means that their other projects Cobalt Neural 9 and Cloud Atlas are on the back burner for now. They’ve already shot bits of footage for the former, though finding financing has been tricky, while the latter has attracted a formidable cast.

Hood himself could well be Will Smith after he was approached for the lead role alongside a host of other talent.

As interesting as this film might be, I’m not sure we need another telling of this story after the exceptional work Ridley Scott achieved.

How this plot can be attributed to the modern ear is anyone’s guess, but we’ll look forward to seeing what they come up with.

Jaden Smith talks M. Night Shyamalan’s next film

After what was described as this year’s worst film, M. Night Shyamalan might be keeping his head down a bit after the release of The Last Airbender.

However he’s not letting that hold him back and he’s pressing forward with the mysterious One Thousand A.E., which has not been penned by Shyamalan himself, but by Book Of Eli’s Gary Whitta.

It’s also being overseen by Will Smith as a starring vehicle for his son, Karate Kid star Jaden Smith, who has just spoken to Entertainment Weekly about the project.

“We’re reading the script right now,” Jaden reveals. “I don’t want to give it away because that wouldn’t be tight, but it’s set in the future and it’s about a journey.”

Shyamalan is keeping close with the Sc-Fi genre and any further details we have our pretty much obscure.

We’re hopeful that the director can pull back his withering reputation considering he’s working with a script by another writer, as well as Hollywood good boy Will – though it’ll take some doing to get Night back to the respected filmmaker he was circa Unbreakable.
