The Avengers teaser poster arrives

We’ve still got another year to wait but it seems that Marvel are quite content to tease fans with a poster for the eagerly awaited and forth coming The Avengers.

The film will feature a host of super heroes most of which have all had their own films and all have somehow tied into each other some way or another as a lead up to this film.

The likes of The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor will all join forces next year in what will surely be the mother of all comic book films.

Sneak look at The Avengers poster

With The Avengers currently filming it’s only a matter of time before the first few leaked images start to find there way onto the net.

The one below is for a poster of the film and was spotted at LX11 – The International Licensing Expo in Las Vegas – featuring all the cast.

The Licensing Expo is where movie and television producers meet toy and tat manufacturers to hash out deals on everything from action figures to stationary, clothing and breakfast cereal.

Like a few of the ones we have seen this week it is another hand drawn one, its certainly very impressive to say the least but we hope there will be something less like it’s been ripped from the front of a comic book.

The Wasp to make Avengers appearance?

Avengers rumours are part and parcel these days and will be until the film is finally released and hits the cinemas in 2012.

It’s really no surprise seeing as Marvel’s super hero-line up will prove to be one of the biggest blockbusters for some time.

Yet another character is likely to appear alongside the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth.

It will be a female role, no doubt to balance out the growing testosterone levels in the film.

Disney star Demi Lovato had been linked to the role in Joss Whedon’s movie, but that has now been soundly denied across the board.

Apparently Whedon and Marvel are still looking to cast another significant female role though.

The Wasp is currently the hot favourite expected to add some girl power to the line-up.

The character, like Ant-Man, takes on the characteristics of her namesake insect, and she has the ability to shrink to a tiny size and fly.

Eva Longoria was attached to the role some time ago, although that rumour never came anywhere close to being confirmed.

The Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johannson) is currently the only big female role in the movie, which is set to shoot in April 2011, ahead of a summer 2012 release.

Ruffalo to motion-capture Hulk

Mark Ruffalo has revealed that he will be doing what no other Hulk actor has done before him by motion capturing the big green giant for The Avengers.

While talking to Vulture, the actor talked about the new approach to the character, adding that while previous Hulk movies had presented the Hulk in CGI, none had used motion-capture technology before.

“I’m really excited,” he says. “No one’s ever played the Hulk exactly, they’ve always done CGI… They’re going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I’ll actually play the Hulk. That’ll be fun.”

Not that the CGI should overshadow the other work that Ruffalo will be doing on the film, namely playing tortured scientist Bruce Banner.

“I really love the first TV version of it, the Bill Bixby one,” he reveals, showing he’s done his homework. “I’m gonna shoot for that a little bit. He was an everyman in it. He’s always on the run and trying to find love. It’s really a sympathetic character, before he turns into the Hulk and fucks everything up.”

The Avengers starts shooting in February 2011, directed by Joss Whedon, and will be released in 2012.
