Exclusive new Jack Falls stills

With the growing expectation surrounding the final piece of the puzzle in the Jack trilogy almost upon us the kind people at Lions Gate have sent us through a couple of brilliant film images.

A few weeks ago we brought you the amazing DVD artwork that will be released on March 21st, and now we get these cool film stills!

Having spent significant time undercover former police-officer Jack Adleth (Simon Phillips) heads to London seeking revenge for the murder attempt on his life in Amsterdam. But things don’t go to plan and he’s got the criminal underworld and his former colleagues hunting down.

The films have been a real hit in the UK and have a great cult following, and you can see why. They are shot in black and white high contrast with subtle splashes of colour that can draw on similarities from Sin City, but the film is very much standalone in its own right!

Olivia Hallinan as Natasha and Simon Phillips as Jack

I think you’ll all agree that this third film is going to be something special and will be the first time writer Paul Tanter steps into the directors chair.

Given Tanter’s writing talents we’re eager to see how he goes helming this film. Of course as soon as it comes out we’ll be first in line to review it, so check back soon for that!

Adam Deacon as Hogan & Alan Ford as Carter & Simon Phillips as Jack

Jack Falls DVD artwork revealed

For those that are fans of the brilliant Jack Says and Jack Said we bring you the exclusive first look at the artwork for the DVD cover of the third film, Jack Falls.

The films are written and adapted from Paul Tanter’s graphic novels and the writer himself has co-directed this one with Alexander Williams.

Simon Phillips is back once again as Jack, looking to hunt down the people that tried to have him killed. The cast list reads like a whose who of British acting legends with Tamer HassanOlivia Hallinan, Dexter Fletcher, Alan Ford, Adam Deacon, Annie Cooper and Martin Kemp all appearing.

Want more, of course you do…how about Jason Flemyng, Neil Maskell and Doug Bradley and watch out for a cameo from Gremlins star Zach Galligan.

The cover below is definitely our favourite of the three, and it is very much in keeping with the graphic novels, the subtle hints of colour that run through it give it a crisp and gritty finish set against the black and white.

We can’t wait for this film, and the DVD will be released on March 21st so if you haven’t already had a chance to see the first two make sure you do!

And of course we’ll be reviewing it in a future post.

Jack Falls Trailer

For those keeping a close eye on independent British film, and who might have been lucky enough to see the films Jack Says and Jack Said, should be pretty excited about the third in the trilogy, Jack Falls.

Written by Paul Tanter and based on his graphic novels, Jack is back and once again he’s up to his neck in it. Paul Tanter steps behind the camera for the first time and goes back to the style of the novels he has previously written.

The cast list is mouthwatering and includes stars such as Tamer Hassan, Simon Phillips, Olivia Hallinan, Dexter Fletcher, Adam Deacon, Doug Bradley, Zach Galligan, Jason Flemyng and Martin Kemp.

Looking at the trailer we pick up the story from where we left off at the end of Jack Said with Jack seemingly left for dead, or is he?

It looks sleak and sexy, with plenty of raw action and high end drama! And with the cream of British acting on show this film has all the hall marks of a classic.

Jack’s back, and fans have got to be happy about that!

Jack Says – 2008

jack says

I love British films, even more when they are obscure and slightly unknown to the public, but once in a while a gem will surface to the top of the pile. Jack Says is a gritty, powerful story of one man’s attempt at trying to piece back together a shady past.

Waking up next to a dead body covered in blood, and only armed with a racy photograph and an address Jack must fight his way through memories and own personal demons to reveal the truth to who he is and what has happened.

Jack Says is shot very well, tight and free flowing camera angles coupled with great locations adds to the tension that the film generates. The screenplay written by Paul Tanter develops the characters slowly enough that the audience can get a real feel as to who they are as well as a like or disliking to them.

As for the cast, well, acting legend Mike Reid in his last role before he sadly passed away is brilliant as the Guv’nor and Eric Cantona whose philosophical cool is second to none makes a great cameo. Jack himself played by Simon Phillips displays an aura of rugged determination as the somewhat archetypal hero, but there is enough raw talent here to prove that this is British film at its best.

Some similar comparisons may be made to Sin City as the film dips into noir for the occasional flash back from Jack’s past, but these only add to the films credibility and I loved the way they were shot. While it might not have all the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood gangster flick Jack Says is violent and sexy in its own right and is surely going to be a big hit with the Inde film crowd!
