Kelsey Grammer cast as Transformers 4 villain

Kelsey Grammer is the latest big name to join Michael Bay’s Transformers 4.

Grammer has signed onto to play the villain Harold Attinger, a counter-intelligence operative who will no doubt look to cause havoc.

Plot details are unknown at this time but the rumours suggest that an ancient Transformer menace will be awakened by a cabal of grasping businessmen and overreaching scientists.

The film is not going to be a complete reboot but there is no doubt that Bay will be giving it an explosive touch.

Directed by Bay and co-starring Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz and Stanley Tucci, Transformers 4 will open in the UK on 27 June 2014.

New TV spot for Pain & Gain

A new TV spot has appeared for Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain which sees Mark Wahlberg’s musclebound protagonist try to plan and pull off the “perfect” heist.

The film which has all of Michael Bay’s fast cutting action and Miami location (see Bad Boys) sees a trio of personal trainers try to make some fast cash by kidnapping a rich client who also happens to be a criminal.

Of course nothing is going to go smoothly as the crook they capture is in deeper with another criminal, and those guys are not going to let their cash go that easily.

Take a look at the new spot, below:

Not much of the plot is revealed which I like, but it might be a return to action form for Bay who let’s face it has struggled in his last few pictures.

Co-starring Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie and Ed Harris, Pain & Gain opens in the UK on 3 May 2013.

Transformers 4 will be first of a new trilogy

Michael Bay has officially announced that Transformers 4 will be the first installment in a new trilogy, god help us all!

The director also announced that he has hired the new film’s secondary lead, Jack Reynor, who will play the racecar-driving boyfriend of Mark Wahlberg’s teenage daughter.

“I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg,” says Bay. “Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie What Richard Did. This kid is the real deal.”

“Transformers 4, is not a reboot,” he continues. “That word has been floating around on the net. This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago.

“The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.”

Pain and Gain official first trailer

The first trailer for Michael Bay’s action flick Pain and Gain has landed online and you can watch it below.

The story sees Mark Whalberg, Dwayne ‘the rock’ Johnson and Anthony Mackie all get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong.

The film, the first from Bay in a few years not to include a robot (thank god) will surely please fans who enjoyed his balls out action and decent buddy relationship films such as Bad Boys.

The Rock looks bigger than ever, as does Whalberg, but what the hell is Anthony Mackie’s outfit all about.

Whalberg talks Transformers 4

With Michael Bay having just wrapped up filming with Mark Whalberg on his new film Pain and Gain, he straight away grabbed Whalberg to replace Shia LaBeouf on Transformers 4.

With LaBeouf not returning Whalberg would not have been anyone’s direct choice to fill the lead role, given his action background however we reckon he’ll make a good fit and by all accounts he can’t wait to start.

“That’s why Transformers came about, because we had such a great time working together [on Pain And Gain],” says Wahlberg.

“We kind of complemented each other throughout the entire process, what he does and what I do and what we were able to do together, and then after that I was like ‘Dude we gotta work together again,’ and he was like, ‘Well I got a project, you interested?’”

As well as Transformers 4 which begins shooting next year, it won’t be the only sequel to invoice Whalberg with another Ted movie in the pipeline.

“We’re shooting Transformers in May, and then I believe we’re gonna doTed 2 right after,” continues Wahlberg. “They’re working on it now and we’ve kind of gone through the negotiation process.

“The great thing about it is Seth’s ideas for the second one are sick. He comes from the world of episodic television so he knows how to tell the stories, in a way that most people don’t.”
