cult classic!

Predator is one of the great action films of the late 80s, this was what it was all about… vintage Arnie. Armed with some great one liners “if it bleeds we can kill it” and “stick around” after Arnie impales his foe against a post with a huge knife.

The action is stripped down to its raw flesh and there are some brilliant sequences none more so than the battle between the Predator and Arnie at the end of the film. The special effects are simple for its time but over recent years it has snowballed to a great cult following.

Schwarzenegger plays Dutch, leader of a crack squad of commandos sent into the South-American jungle in search of a CIA hostage. However the team get more than they bargained for when they become the prey for an extra terrestrial from another planet.

Aliens in film had already been attempted quite successfully with the original Alien, and Aliens only a few years earlier, so it was going to be interesting to see how McTiernan portrayed it. We don’t too much of a glimpse of the Predator in the beginning and that is what makes the film intriguing.

Predator’s musical score also adds another dimension to the narrative and who better to be on the project than Alan Silvestri, he does a great job in engaging the viewer to the suspense. Overall if you’re an action buff then this is going be for you. It never lets up and will never be boring and can be watched over and over again.
