leave the lights on!!

Every now and then throughout horror film history comes a gem, we’ve had them all Psycho, Halloween (original), Friday the 13th, The Blair Witch Project and of course A Nightmare on Elm Street to name but a few. Paranormal Activity goes that little step further.

This film doesn’t just scare you a little (for those that want to be) it grabs you by the jugular and throws your inner psyche around until you’re so out of breath you can’t take anymore. Low budget, unknown cast members and a camera set up on a tripod in a bedroom, what’s not to love.

Paranormal Activity starts off gradually teasing you, but each night time scene gets more powerful as you scan the room waiting for things to happen. And believe me they do! Right up till the climactic ending which is to say the least is both astounding and shocking.

While it might only be a film (and we keep telling ourselves this each time we turn off the bedroom light at night) it is simple yet so effective and just proves you don’t need a big budget and loads of CGI to make a brilliant film!
