Olivia Thirlby Joins Judge Dredd 3D

With Pete Travis behind the camera for the planned 2012 release of Judge Dredd the film has just landed another recruit in Olivia Thirlby. Thirlby will play telepathic rookie recruit Judge Cassandra Anderson.

She’ll join Karl Urban who is leading the way as Dredd himself for the 3D adaptation of the 2000AD icon.

The film promises and will hopefully eradicate from memory the 1995 Sylvester Stallone/Rob Schneider shocker from cinematic memory, with a script by 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland.

Dredd’s plot will find the experienced futuristic lawman trapped in one of Mega City One’s most dangerous high rises, fighting for his life with Anderson at his side.

Thirlby appeared in Juno as Ellen Page’s best friend, and she’s been shooting alien invasion pic The Darkest Hour.

Travis is scheduled to kick off shooting on the $45 million film in South Africa later this year. And sources have reveled that Dredd will be keeping the helmet firmly on his head!
