A Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.

What we think: This has all the hallmarks to be a hit for the start of the Autumn, funnily enough I once had an idea for a script for something similar, but I guess in this game you have to be pretty quick.

That said the film has scenes that you’d most like to find Jason Statham sitting behind the wheel in his trademarked black suit and tie, ala Transporter. Not so, here we have one of Hollywood’s hottest young talents, Ryan Gosling.

Gosling simply plays the character called Driver, its not said whether or not we get to find out his real name. By day he is a film stunt driver and by night he moonlights as a wheel man, until that is, he gets caught up in something that goes bad and ends up having to fight back.

Director Nicolas Winding Refn looks to have set a very gritty tone to the film which is a good thing, drama wise it should be right up there as well as Refn also helmed Bronson, so expect scenes of extreme gratuitous violence.

The film also stars Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac and Albert Brooks.
