Danny Trejo, the man who when a cult film needs making is your go to guy, steps into a new trailer based on of all things a YouTube clip.
The YouTube video featured an argument on an Oakland, California bus between the 67-year-old Thomas Bruso (wearing a pale blue “I Am A Motherfucker” t-shirt) and a guy called Michael.
It’s a little hard to hear exactly what starts all the commotion but it climaxes in poor Michael ending up on the wrong end of an ass kicking, leaving him bleeding all over the seats and Vietnam vet Thomas being ejected from the bus.
There has already been one official trailer this year, but there was some debate as to whether or not this was a hoax. Not so now as a new trailer has hit the net, and this time it sets up more of a back story.
Think of this as a kind of a Harry Brown but with more explosions and more beatings, it also stars Charles S. Dutton and Ron Perlman, so what is not to like about it.

The poster also says it all!

The film is due out April 13th in the US and so far there is no news about when it will hit UK shores, but as soon as we find out you’ll be the first to know.
A group of mountaineers in the Scottish Highlands discover a kidnapped girl and are pursued by her captors.
Directed: Julian Gilbey
Stars: Melissa George, Ed Speleers and Eamonn Walker
What we think: Set against the sweeping landscape of the Scottish Highlands it would seem like a perfect place as any to stage a cat mouse style thriller, and that is exactly what we get.
When a group of climbers out on excursion discover a young girl buried alive with only a tube for air they take the decision to rescue her, which just became their biggest mistake.
It’s a fast paced edge of the seat ride which never stops for a second to catch its breath. George puts in a worthy performance, gripped by fear she runs on adrenalin in order to try and outwit her villainous opponents.
There is something truly unnerving about setting a thriller in such a picaresque backdrop, it worked for The Decent and certainly for Deliverance. Here Gilby does more than enough to raise the tension, from an opening that will surely shake the viewer up it only takes a strangle hold on them further.
The acting is if I’m honest below par from a majority of the party, George shines there is no question of that, but its the inclusion of protagonist Sean Harris as Mr. Kidd that really gives the film a chilling edge.
He’s a dead pan actor, that has the look of a complete bastard, cold callous and methodical. When he recalls a past tale during the climax of the film its a reminder that he takes his business very seriously.

For the last act the film moves from the heights of the forest to a small Scottish town deep in a local festival and while you may feel that some of the tension might be lost, think again.
The inclusion of a few bounty hunters adds to the action and elaborates on the plot further, and it races to a pulsating finish. It’s a commendable effort from Gilbey whose last outing Rise of the Footsoldier was also met with great acclaim.
While it may be consigned to the group labelled B-Moives, this has enough to keep even the seasoned film fan strapped into their chairs.

In Alaska, an oil drilling team struggle to survive after a plane crash strands them in the wild. Hunting the humans are a pack of wolves who see them as intruders.
Directed: Joe Carnahan
Stars: Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney and Frank Grillo
What we think: Director Joe Carnahan doesn’t have a long list of credits to his name, but I doubt that will bother him in the slightest.
His most popular film off his back catalogue, and one that is considered his best to date is Narc. Of course he helmed the bat shit crazy, guns-a-blazing Smokin Aces. Not forgetting for a minute the over the top and some what bonkers reboot of The A-Team.
Here, Carnahan teams up with Neeson once again, although it was very nearly Bradley Cooper, but we’re glad that Neeson got the gig!
Neeson plays Ottway, a crack shot with a rifle whose job it is is to keep the many oil drilling workers off the menu from the local four legged carnivores.
When the plane transporting the crew back from the end of season crashes in Alaskan no mans land Neeson must battle the elements and inhospitable terrain to find safety, while at the same time avoiding a rather pissed off pack of hungry wolves.
If there is anyone you’d want by your side in this type of situation (Bear Grylls not present) its Nesson. With a few choice words for his new found friends “nobody’s going to find us….and if we don’t move we’re all fucked!” they abandon what little is left of the plane and set out into the wilderness.
This is clearly not the best idea, and its not long before the group are picked off one by one as the race to safety intensifies. With the Alpha male calling the shots wolf side, its Neeson doing the same for the humans as he battles with his own issues (to which become apparent later) as well as those around him. A few nights opening up round the fire and you realise that these men have a significant reason to want to get home alive.
Neeson is level headed and cool, but then put into a situation like this you have to be. The film, lacking in any visual landscape must use the survivors to really build the story, and Carnahan delivers enough tension to the audience to keep them on a knife edge.

The action is integrated well into the emotional side of the plot, and there really is some serious emotion going on out there. That makes the film all the more enjoyable, and by the end you feel for each and everyone of those guys.
The actions scenes are a little more believable, no tanks shooting down planes here. Although we do wonder if Carnahan took inspiration from Cliffhanger for one particular scene.
The film packs an intense punch all the way through, but it will play on the heart strings as well. Neeson is the stand-out but has a solid supporting cast not to let him have to carry the burden all the way through till the end.

I’ve become a bit of a Liam Neeson fan of late, stemmed mainly from Taken which is undoubtedly one of his best films the gruff talking actor has won a place in my list of favourite actors.
His new film The Grey which is due out next year is about an oil drilling team who struggle to survive after a plane crash strands them in the wild.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, hunting them are a pack of wolves who see them as intruders, so its a man vs nature, vs the elements, vs the beasts!
Here it would seem that Neeson has acquired another set of special skills, including how to light a fire, scale a rock face and tell camp fire stories!
Directed by Joe Carnahan who most recently helmed The A-Team he looks to infuse survial with some great action sequences and edge of your seat tension.
There is the possibility that it will have a little cheese element to it, look at the end of the trailer for example.
Nesson teeth gritted with glass shards taped to his knuckles sprints towards a lone wolf, I just hope that is not going to be the end?
The film will open in selected UK theatres next January!
