Exceptional
Basic Instinct was quite simply one of the best thrillers of the early 90s, a film so sexy and suspenseful that it had you on the edge of your seat time and time again.
The gratuitous sex littered throughout was only ever going to shock cinema goers, especially the now infamous Sharon Stone leg cross scene.
The Basic Instinct script was brilliantly written and twisted and turned at every opportunity it got, one of Michael Douglas’s better performances and his on screen chemistry with Stone was explosive.
The ending was obviously going to annoy everyone as was the pitiful sequel which was not needed. But it was one of those films you could discuss for hours and hours after that climatic final shot was she going to or not?
