Theatrical Re-Release for Back to the Future!

In 1985 I was just eight years old, to this day I only have vague recollections about it. One thing I do remember was the release of one film that would change me forever.

Back to the Future was every small boys dream, to be able to go back in time to see what life was like. You could only dream at the places you would have gone and the things that you would have done.

The film celebrates its 25th anniversary, and to mark the occasion the film is getting a theatrical release in October this year as well as all three films on Blu-ray at the end of October.

Why is this such a massive occasion? Why am I on hearing the news so excited? For one I don’t ever remember seeing it at the cinema, I think it was on VHS that I clapped eyes on Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and the DeLorean, not to mention a blue-eyed young man called Marty (Michael J. Fox)

It is a film that will always be synonymous with my childhood and a film that today I could watch over and over again without getting bored.

The script is flawless, and guides us through time travel paradoxes with ease, that there is no way we can get confused. There is high drama as well as we see the beloved Doc Brown gunned down by terrorists (only after everything unravels do we breathe a sigh on relief that its not true)

Then there is the way Marty drifts through his parents era, having to help his father gain vasts amounts of confidence, to avoiding the passes made to him by his own mother. Finishing it all off is Biff Tanen (Thomas F. Wilson) a man who is surely now a cult figure and has even parodied himself in song.

The musical score is sublime, and Alan Silvestri now a household name made his compositions grand and epic, and who could forget Huey Lewis and that amazing 80s ballard ’The Power of Love’. Hearing it all its easy to see why some people have described it as the greatest musical score of all time.

I already own the trilogy on DVD but that will be shelved for good as I look to get my hands on this new sleaker Blu-ray box set. With over 2 hours of extra bonus footage including an enhanced picuture as well as behind the scenes and never before seen interviews this is going to be exploding with more gigawatts than Emmett Brown can handle!

It is a classic and one of the reasons I fell in love with film, as a sci-fi fantasy flick it ticks every box and some. For the younger generation this is going to be a one off chance to sample something truly mind blowing!
