Alien is without a doubt one of the finest sci-fi horrors of the last century, this ground breaking original sent shock waves through audiences. Simple, dark, terrifying it pushed new boundaries in film making and most of all special effects.

The story (for those that have been living on another planet and have never seen this) a mining ship out in deep space receives a distress SOS call from another planet, upon investigation the crew stumble across something more sinister that threatens to tear their ship and crew apart.

Sigourney Weaver leads the cast which also includes Tom Skerritt and Ian Holm. The script is tight and musical score is second to none which only adds to the suspense.

The camera shots and angles are both short and sharp as well as sweeping, just look at the opening sequence for example. All in all Ridley Scott produced a film that will stay with us for many a year and we’ll never ever get tired of it.
